Jonathan Stone, 37, had been held in Vermont custody since 2019. He was hospitalized for about two weeks before he died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on March 29, 2026, after first being treated at North Country Hospital in Newport. The Vermont Department of Corrections said his death did not appear suspicious, and the Vermont State Police and the Defender General's Office are investigating under standard protocol.
