On June 28, 2023, he was found bleeding from multiple wounds in his cell at the DeKalb County Jail in Georgia and was pronounced dead at the scene. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said early reports suggested the wounds may have been self-inflicted, and the medical examiner opened an investigation.
