Jonathan Danard Harris
Jonathan Danard Harris, 22, known to his family as Jon, died on November 8, 2025, at the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Adult Detention Center in Jefferson County, Arkansas. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says he was stabbed with foreign objects during a fight involving several people held at the jail. His mother, Latasha Freeman, disputes that enough was done, saying video of him lying on the floor led her to believe help came too slowly and that she called the jail many times without reaching anyone. Four other people held at the jail have been arrested in connection with the deaths, and the sheriff's office says the investigation is ongoing.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody (neglect alleged). The sheriff's office says Harris was stabbed with foreign objects during a fight among detainees, and his mother, Latasha Freeman, says staff did not do enough and that she could not reach anyone at the jail when she called.
