Jonathan D. Rude
Jonathan D. Rude, 39, was held at California State Prison, Sacramento, in Folsom, when he died on February 23, 2025, after an attack on the main exercise yard. According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, two other incarcerated men assaulted him, and officers fired a warning shot to stop the attack. He was pronounced dead at 1:43 p.m., and CDCR is investigating the death as a homicide. Two improvised weapons were reportedly found at the scene, and the Sacramento County Coroner will determine the official cause of death.
