Johnny Bernard Miles
Johnny Bernard Miles, 66, of Livingston, died on September 13, 2026, after a medical emergency while he was held at the Polk County Jail, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Jail staff responded around 10:25 a.m. and he was taken to CHI St. Luke's Health Memorial in Livingston, where he was pronounced dead about an hour and a quarter later. The sheriff's office attributes the death to a medical emergency. The Texas Rangers are investigating it as an in-custody death, and the case will be forwarded to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.
