Johnny Austin Sunday
Johnny Sunday, 27, of Vidor, Texas, died on June 3, 2023 while held at the Liberty County Jail. His family said they had called the jail to ask for frequent checks because he had been threatening self-harm. Jail officials said an officer checked on him and found him hanging in a shared cell 15 minutes later, and that a hallway camera was not working at the time. The Texas Rangers are investigating his death.
