Johnathan Mansfield
Johnathon Mansfield, a 44-year-old man, was held at the Madison County Detention Center in Richmond, Kentucky, in September 2024 and died at UK Hospital days later, on or around October 10, 2024. His widow, Rebecca Mansfield, is suing the former jailer, two corrections officers and Madison County EMS, alleging he was repeatedly shocked with tasers and restrained in a chair and a full-body WRAP device, and that he was not medically evaluated for about nine minutes after he became unresponsive. A UK physician and an internal police investigation are reported to have concluded that the use of force caused cardiac arrest, while the county jailer says the incident happened before he took office. State police are still investigating.
