John Winfield was executed by lethal injection at the state prison in Bonne Terre, Missouri, shortly after midnight on June 18, 2014. A spokesman for the Department of Public Safety said he was pronounced dead at 12:10 a.m. The report notes that Missouri used pentobarbital, a single drug, as Georgia does, and that states refuse to say where their drugs come from or whether they are tested.
