John Scott Junior
John Scott Junior, a Decatur man, was taken into custody in April 2025 after his mother called police during a mental health episode. Video shows him being dragged into the booking area of the Morgan County jail, and he was later taken to a hospital, where he stayed in a coma for more than six days before he died on April 22, 2025. His mother, Paulette Tennison-Sanders, says the family misses him and wants justice, recalling that he told her he loved her. The Attorney General's office is investigating his death, and the family says police did not handle his mental health crisis properly.
