John Raymond

Las Lunas, New Mexico

John Raymond was one of three men held in the jail at Las Lunas, New Mexico, when a mob took them from custody and hanged them from a neighboring tree, according to a report reprinted in the Brenham Weekly Banner in March 1882. The report describes the killing as happening 'the other day,' which leaves the exact date unclear. Nothing in this account says whether the jail or local officers resisted the mob, gave up the keys, or handed the men over.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched

Reported by: Brenham Weekly Banner (reporters).
