John Patrick Finucane
John Patrick Finucane, 32, lived with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and his sister, Liz Oliveras, said he was smart, loved, and had people who cared about him. In June, during an episode, his sister called 911 hoping he would get help, and he was later held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny. On November 15, 2025, corrections officers found him in his cell around 7:40 a.m. and took him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 a.m. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said the New Jersey Attorney General's Office was notified and the death remains under investigation, so no cause or manner has been confirmed. His family wants to know why he was held in jail rather than somewhere he could get treatment.
