Died in jail or a lockup
John Kellor
John Kellor was held at the Phoenix jail in 1879, and on October 10 of that year a mob took him from the jail and hanged him in the public square. The Phoenix Herald reported the lynching on October 11, 1879. The lynching followed the killing of a man named McClosky a few days earlier, but that accusation against Kellor is not repeated here.
