Died in prison
John Howell
John Howell, 58, died on June 19, 2018, at the Cummins Unit in Grady, Arkansas, a state prison. The Arkansas Department of Correction said another person held at the unit alerted staff that he was on the floor of his cell, and he was pronounced dead in the unit infirmary. The Arkansas State Police and the Department of Correction are investigating his death.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined. An inmate told investigators that Howell had smoked K2 but did not know whether he had smoked any that day.
