John Gambrel Jr.
John Ed Gambrel Jr., 59, died on January 31, 2016, at Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge, where he was held. Prison officials said he died of an extended illness. According to the Daily Inter Lake, his family had been sent an erroneous notice that he was being discharged, so they spent a night believing he would leave prison alive before learning he had died. The Whitefish Pilot reported the Montana Department of Corrections' account that he died after an illness.
