John David Davenport
John Davenport, a man with a mental disability, lived in community housing at Nelson Hall Homes in Fort Smith, where his caretakers had asked police for help with his behavior. He was taken into custody and held at the Sebastian County Detention Center, where, according to the Fort Smith Police Department, a deputy found him with severe injuries during a 15-minute check. He died at Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith on September 15, 2018. The Sebastian County Sheriff's Office opened an internal investigation, and the cause and circumstances of his death are still under review.
