John Childers

John Childers was hanged at Fort Smith, Arkansas, on August 15, 1873, after being taken from the jail to the gallows. The executioner, George B. Malidon, recalled in an 1887 newspaper account that a storm broke just as the trap was sprung. He said the sun was shining again by the time the body was cut down.
