John Arthur
John Arthur, 55, was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher who worked as a heavy equipment operator and ran his own tree trimming business. He volunteered with the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief Program and went on many mission trips to help with recovery efforts. He was held at the U.S. Penitentiary in McCreary County, where he was found unresponsive on the afternoon of Monday, August 13, 2018, and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. A Department of Justice release said the prison would investigate, and the cause of his death has not been stated.
