Died in jail or a lockup
Joel Fowler
Joel Fowler was held in the jail at Socorro, New Mexico, when a crowd took him from it in the early hours of January 23, 1884. According to a special dispatch printed in 1884, he pleaded for mercy and called for help as he was dragged to a nearby tree and hanged.
