Executed
Joe Genna
Joe Genna was hanged at the Beauregard Parish jail in DeRidder, Louisiana, in 1928, on the same day as another man. According to Gary Crowe, president of the Police Jury, the gallows was built across the jail's three-story spiral staircase, with the sheriff, deputies, coroner and several jurors standing nearby. A later account describes it as the first double execution in Beauregard Parish. He was buried in Orange Grove Cemetery in Lake Charles.
