Joaquin San Nicolas Baza
Joaquin San Nicolas Baza, 74, died on March 20, 2018, in the medical unit at Post 3 of the Guam Department of Corrections, where he was in the department's custody. According to DOC Deputy Director Kate Baltazar, he had worked as a warden at the Mangilao prison in the late 1980s. He was found unresponsive at 6:05 a.m. and pronounced dead by a Guam Memorial Hospital physician assigned to the DOC clinic. Guam Medical Examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola said he died of natural causes from prostate cancer and found no foul play.
