Joanna Ginez
Joanna Ginez, a 36-year-old woman, died on June 25, 2025 while held at the Bexar County Jail in Texas. Other people held at the jail alerted deputies that she was unresponsive in her cell. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said preliminarily that she had a medical episode compounded by withdrawal symptoms, and KSAT reported she had been experiencing withdrawal when she was booked earlier that week. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office later ruled the death accidental and attributed it to methamphetamine toxicity. The sheriff's office and the Castle Hill Police Department are investigating under the Sandra Bland Act.
