Jimmie Owten died on August 28, 2022, while held at the Bell County Jail in Texas, according to the Texas Office of the Attorney General's custodial death report. The report gives no cause or manner of death for him. A Killeen Daily Herald report published in October 2022 described a man in his forties who died at the same jail on that date, but did not give his name or cause of death, and it does not say whether he is the same person.
