Jesus Fuen
Jesus Fuec was being held in the San Bernardino jail on Court Street when, in the early morning of April 7, 1893, a crowd of about fifty men, which grew to several hundred, forced the jail doors with sledgehammers and a heavy beam. According to the Record-Union, the mob broke through the window grating, cut him out of his cell and hanged him from the railroad bridge near First Street, while the jailer fired shots into the air and other officers could not disperse the crowd. The coroner's inquest found that he died by hanging at the hands of parties unknown, and no arrests had been made as of that report. An Associated Press dispatch likewise reports that a mob took him from the jail and lynched him.
