Jessica Cheyenne Nichols
Jessica Cheyenne Nichols, 19, of Mooresville, died on April 14, 2022, while held at the Iredell County Detention Center in Statesville, North Carolina. Detention staff found her early on a Thursday morning, and accounts differ on whether she was in a cell or an observation room. Sheriff Darren Campbell said a review of surveillance video showed no incidents between her and jail staff, and that she had gone to sleep about 11 p.m. the night before. The State Bureau of Investigation took over the investigation and an autopsy was scheduled, but the cause and manner of death had not been determined in the reports.
