Jesse Guardado
Florida executed Jesse Guardado, 64, by three-drug lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke on Thursday, November 5, 2026, and he was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m., the governor's office and the Department of Corrections said. Before the drugs were administered, he apologized for the pain and suffering he had caused the victim's family and his own family. Witnesses reported he breathed heavily and twitched for about a minute before a medic pronounced him dead. His attorneys had challenged the state's clemency process and its lethal injection protocol, and the U.S. Supreme Court denied his final appeal earlier that day. The victim's son said afterward that he questioned people who oppose the death penalty.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state
Reported by: Florida Department of Corrections (the agency that held him); Governor's office; Witnesses to the execution (witnesses).
Custody: Serving a sentence.
