Jerry Salupan Cadena, 48, of Port Orchard, died on December 11, 2023, six days after he was taken into the Kitsap County Jail. He was found on the floor of his cell at 4:21 p.m. and could not be revived. The Kitsap County medical examiner's office attributed his death to atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, according to the Kitsap Daily News. The jail said it found no injuries on him and that a review of jail video showed no assaultive actions against him.
