Jerry Jackie Kitchens
Jerry Jackie Kitchens, 39, of Seminary, Mississippi, was found dead in his cell at the Wakulla County Jail in Florida on a Saturday evening in June 2014. The Wakulla County Sheriff's Office said he hanged himself with a bed sheet while alone in the cell, and said staff were checking on inmates hourly. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigated, and a preliminary autopsy was consistent with hanging. The lack of hourly checks was not addressed in the account.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide. Wakulla County Sheriff's Office spokesman Keith Blackmar said Kitchens hanged himself with a bed sheet in his cell.
