Jennifer McLaren
Jennifer McLaren, 26, was taken into custody in January 2020 and held at the Northern Oregon Corrections Facility, known as Norcor, in The Dalles, Oregon. According to a Disability Rights Oregon report, she complained of rib pain soon after booking, and about eight days later she asked to be taken to a hospital. The report says she was moved to a booking-area cell instead. She was later found unconscious in the jail and died there. The report says her pneumonia went undiagnosed and was treatable.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness (neglect alleged). Disability Rights Oregon's report says staff failed to diagnose and treat her pneumonia despite her complaints of rib pain and her request to go to a hospital.
