Jeffrey R. Weiss
Jeffrey R. Weiss, 60, of Deerfield, was held at the Lake County Jail when he was found on the floor of his cell on March 9, 2019, having trouble breathing. The Lake County Sheriff's Office said investigators believed another person held at the jail had choked him after an argument. He was hospitalized, underwent surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma, and he was taken off a ventilator on March 21. He died on March 29, 2019, at a hospice at Rush Hospital, and as of the report an autopsy was pending and no cause of death had been determined.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. The Lake County Sheriff's Office said another detainee choked him after an argument; the autopsy was pending.
