Jeffrey T. Landrigan was executed by the State of Arizona by lethal injection at Arizona State Prison Complex-Florence in Florence on October 26, 2010, as reported by the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry. CBS News reported that he had been on death row in Arizona for more than 20 years and was from Oklahoma, and that before his death he looked through a window at relatives, a friend and two of his lawyers, and thanked his family and friends. The execution was carried out hours after the U.S. Supreme Court lifted a stay, following questions from a federal judge and the 9th Circuit about whether sodium thiopental obtained from an overseas source was safe. CBS reported that the procedure took about 10 minutes and that doctors pronounced him dead shortly after 10 p.m.
