Jeffrey Foreman
Jeffrey Foreman, 53, had moved to Alaska about 15 years earlier to work at canneries and restaurants, and his mother said everybody who met him loved him. He died early on July 11, 2025, at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, where he was held while awaiting bail-related monitoring equipment. Alaska State Troopers said he and a cellmate fought, that officers restrained him in his cell and put him in leg restraints, and that he became unresponsive and was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. The ACLU of Alaska has opened its own investigation, and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation is examining the force used while the medical examiner's cause and manner of death are pending.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (disputed). The Alaska State Troopers say officers restrained Jeffrey Foreman after he fought a cellmate and he then became unresponsive; the ACLU of Alaska has opened its own investigation into the force used, and the Alaska Bureau of Investigation and the medical examiner have not yet ruled on cause or manner.
Reported by: Alaska State Troopers (outside investigators); ACLU of Alaska (advocates); Alaska Public Media (reporters); Patricia McMillan, his mother (family or their lawyers).
