Jeffrey D. Nottestad
Jeffrey D. Nottestad, 57, died on February 4, 2020, while held at the La Crosse County Jail in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The La Crosse County Sheriff's Office said he was found unresponsive in his cell that morning, and that jail staff and EMTs tried lifesaving efforts, but he died. The sheriff's office asked the La Crosse Police Department to conduct an independent investigation, which included interviews, reports, phone calls, surveillance video and an autopsy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. That investigation led to a finding of natural causes, and the sheriff's office said no foul play was suspected.
