Jeffery Lumpkins
Jeffery Lumpkins, 39, of Hazard, died on November 29, 2025, after he was found in a bathroom at the Floyd County Detention Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, where he was being held. He was pronounced dead at Highlands Regional Medical Center. Prestonsburg Police Chief Ross Shurtleff said the death appears to be a suicide by hanging with a blanket, and preliminary findings from the state medical examiner are consistent with hanging. Toxicology results are pending, and the coroner has not yet issued a cause of death.
