Jeffery Downs
Jeffery Downs, 40, was held at the Christian County Detention Center in Kentucky and was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville for medical treatment. According to Kentucky State Police, while he was being treated in the emergency room he took a weapon from the jailer who had brought him in and shot himself. He died a short time later, on November 3, 2012. State Police attributed the death to a self-inflicted gunshot wound and are investigating how the weapon came to be in his hands.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide. Kentucky State Police say he shot himself in the emergency room of Jennie Stuart Medical Center while being treated there.
