Died in jail or a lockup
Jeanette Staton
Jeanette Staton, 60, died at Centra Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, in late September 2026. She had been held at the Danville City Jail and was referred to the hospital after a scheduled doctor's appointment in August, and she remained there until her death. Danville Sheriff Mike Mondul said she came to the jail with significant preexisting health conditions. The sheriff's office said her next of kin, the Roanoke Medical Examiner's Office and the Department of Corrections had been notified.
