Jay McEvers, 47, of Canton, died on August 4, 2016, while held at the Van Zandt County Jail in Texas. The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office said he was found unresponsive in his single-occupancy cell and was later pronounced dead. The Texas Rangers are investigating, and the cause of death was pending autopsy results.
