Javier Capote-Cauz, 30, died on July 8, 2023, while held at the Federal Correctional Institution McDowell in Welch, West Virginia. According to a U.S. Department of Justice press release, he was found unresponsive that Saturday evening, and he was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified, and the Department of Justice said no cause of death had been released as of publication.
