Jason Patrick Sisson
Jason Patrick Sisson, 34, was held at Piedmont Regional Jail in Prince Edward County, Virginia, when he died on August 22, 2017. According to hospital records cited in a federal filing by his family's attorney, he was badly beaten by another person held at the jail, which left serious skull and ear injuries, and he was discharged with blood-thinning medication that the filing says was not given as prescribed at the jail. His mother, Victoria Lynn Sisson, alleges in a federal lawsuit that jail and medical staff failed to respond to his repeated falls, bleeding and distress in the hours before he was found unresponsive in his cell. He was moved to a larger hospital, where he was declared brain-dead, and the attorney says the death was very preventable. The jail superintendent declined to comment because of the litigation.
