Executed
Jason Blake
Jason Blake, a Black man, was executed by hanging on December 6, 1895, at Hampton, South Carolina, alongside Prince Graham and William Frazer. Two newspapers of the day, the Roanoke Daily Times and the Evening Bulletin, reported that on the gallows the men said William Blake Sr. had nothing to do with the case for which they were put to death. The accounts describe the hanging itself and that statement, and they include no other objections to the execution.
