Jared James Dicus, 24, died on January 16, 2026, at the Wainwright Unit, a Texas state prison in Houston County, where he had been held since August 2024. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said his death resulted from a self-inflicted injury. A state death report obtained by KLTV described him as hanging by the neck in his single-person cell.
