Janie L. Pierce
Janie Lee Pierce, 30, of Lubbock, died on March 26, 2003, while held at the Lubbock County Jail. According to a KCBD report, medical staff at the Lubbock Sheriff's Department noticed she was unwell, and EMS took her to University Medical Center, where she died in intensive care. An autopsy was performed, but at the time of the report the cause of death had not been determined, and the Lubbock County Medical Examiner's manner-of-death finding was listed as pending. The Texas Office of the Attorney General's custodial death report also records her death at the Lubbock County Jail on that date.
