James Pointer
James Pointer was 76 and had been on dialysis for many years; a man held with him described him as a Vietnam veteran he loved. He was housed at Moberly Correctional Center in Missouri because it has a dialysis center, and on Jan. 31, 2025, he bled to death from the access point in his leg used for dialysis. The Missouri Department of Corrections says medical help arrived within two to three minutes. A man held at the prison wrote that medical staff took too long and that the access point had opened four times in a month.
