James Palmucci
James Palmucci, a man in his late 40s from Englewood, was found dead in his cell at the Charlotte County Jail on the morning of October 26, 2020. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said jail staff found him with fabric around his neck, said an autopsy would be performed, and said no one had threatened him or recalled him mentioning self-harm. The Daily Sun later reported that he died by suicide. The sheriff's office did not respond to the newspaper's questions about safety and suicide prevention at the jail.
