James Mitchell
James Mitchell, 38, died on December 7, 2022, while held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County, South Carolina. Corrections1 reported in February 2023 that the Richland County Sheriff's Department had not released an incident report or other details about his death despite multiple requests. A July 2024 column in The State named him among 23 people who died at the jail or after being taken from it to a hospital over about ten years.
