James McCloud
James McCloud was held in the jail at Hamburg, Arkansas, when a mob overpowered the sheriff, took him out and hanged him in the woods. A Memphis dispatch dated June 12, 1901 says the mob also shot his body full of bullets. The sheriff's conduct during the taking is not described in the accounts.
