James Jarvis, 62, died on February 4, 2023, at the Jefferson County Detention Center, where he was being held. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, his cellmate alerted deputies after finding him unresponsive in his cell at about 10:48 p.m. The sheriff's office said the coroner will determine the cause of death, and a critical incident response team is investigating.
