James Darryl Cooper, 45, of Vallejo, died on January 24, 2018, while held at the Martinez Detention Facility in Contra Costa County, according to the East Bay Times and Patch. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office said his death appears to be medically related, and that an autopsy will determine the cause. Sources report that a deputy found him unresponsive in his bunk during a room check around 12:47 a.m. An investigation involving the sheriff's office and the district attorney's office is underway.
