James Bryon Coon, 76, died on January 11, 2026, in the infirmary of the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, where he was receiving hospice care, according to the Oregon Department of Corrections. The department said the Oregon State Police were notified, as they are for all in-custody deaths.
