JaLan Riddick
JaLan Riddick, 21, died on June 6, 2026, while held at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office said he was found unresponsive in the afternoon and that jail staff called emergency personnel, and he died at 4:05 p.m. Another report said he had a medical crisis in his jail pod and died on scene, and it criticized the sheriff's response to deaths at the jail. The sheriff's office and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating, and the cause of death has not been released. Sheriff Garry McFadden said the family and loved ones are mourning him.
