Jakim Funderburk
Jakim Funderburk, 20, died at the Hampton Roads Regional Jail in Virginia on November 19, 2017, about a week after he was transferred there. His uncle, Gary Funderburk, said the family knew he had problems and that jail officials should have known better. The family says he was found hanging from a bed sheet in his cell. Jail staff said he had been evaluated routinely and was improving, and the family disputes that account.
